Would you like access to an outdoor gym in the village? A local resident has proposed the installation of a ‘trim trail’ at Northways where people could get fit for free.
The equipment would be for a range of people from beginners to fitness fanatics. It would enable people to complete strength and conditioning exercises locally, and even provide additional workout options for those already using the field for sport. email clerk@cliffordparishcouncil.gov.uk if you think this is a project the council should pursue
This would be a fantastic idea. Unfortunately a lot of gyms are too expensive for some people and gyms don’t always cater for children. This would be a great way for families to get fit together with no expense. We have to ensure people are educated about the health benefits of keeping fit and give them the opportunity to do so with little or no cost would prove invaluable to our NHS. This would be a great asset to Clifford and the surrounding areas.
This idea was considered a few years ago not long after the Parish Council took on the lease from Leeds City Council.
It was generally accepted as a good idea but the main concerns were costs of maintenance and likely vandalism.
If apparatus is available that takes these issues into account it should be pursued.
Definitely a good idea. Anything that promotes fitness is worth doing. Equipment needs to be maintained for safety though.
